AKC Time 2 Beat Title Tracking: 15 Runs Down, 8 Points to Go

Moose’s Time 2 Beat progress was a good reminder that an agility title can be close and still not complete.

Published June 24, 2026

I added Moose’s 15th AKC Time 2 Beat run to the title tracker and thought, “Okay, that part is done.”

And it was.

The tracker showed the run requirement was complete.

But then it also showed something just as important:

92 out of 100 points.

So even though Moose had the 15 qualifying runs needed for the Time 2 Beat title, the title was not finished yet. We still needed 8 more points.

That is exactly why I like seeing title progress laid out clearly. It is not always enough to know that your dog qualified. Sometimes you need to know what that Q counted toward, how many points it added, and which part of the title is still unfinished.

Why Time 2 Beat Can Sneak Up on You

AKC Time 2 Beat, often called T2B, is one of those titles that seems simple until you start tracking it.

To earn the T2B title, a dog needs both:

15 qualifying scores

100 points

That means the Q count and the point total are both important. One can be finished before the other.

That is what happened with Moose. The qualifying scores were done, but the points were not.

And honestly, that is very easy to miss if your progress is living in notes, screenshots, or memory.

The Question Is Not Just “Did We Q?”

After a trial weekend, the big thing we usually remember is whether the run qualified.

That makes sense. That is the exciting part.

But with Time 2 Beat, the better question is:

What did that Q do for the title?

Did it add another qualifying run?

How many points did it add?

Did it finish one requirement?

Did it finish the whole title?

That is where AKC agility title tracking becomes helpful. It connects the result to the actual requirement instead of leaving you with a loose note that says “T2B Q.”

Why This Matters Beyond Time 2 Beat

This is not only about T2B.

Time 2 Beat is just a really clear example of a title with more than one piece.

Some dog sport titles need Qs. Some need points. Some need different classes, games, or combinations. Some bigger goals update from regular entries over time.

When you are tracking more than one requirement, a simple list can leave out the part you actually need to know.

You are not just collecting results.

You are trying to understand what those results count toward.

What to Track for AKC Time 2 Beat

If you are tracking T2B progress manually, the important pieces are:

Dog name
Date or trial weekend
Whether the run qualified
Points earned
Current number of qualifying runs
Current point total
Points still needed
Whether the title is complete

The key is tracking both the Qs and the points.

For T2B, you need both sides of the title to line up before the title is done.

What Happens After the Title Is Earned?

Another thing that makes Time 2 Beat interesting is that it does not stop after the first title.

Once a dog earns the T2B title, the title can continue with numbered titles, such as T2B2, T2B3, and so on.

Each time the title is earned, the qualifying scores and points reset and the dog starts working toward the next one.

So if your dog enjoys Time 2 Beat, this may be something you track again and again.

The Real Lesson

The real lesson from Moose’s 15th Time 2 Beat run is this:

An agility title can be close and still not complete.

And that is okay.

I would rather know exactly where we stand than guess. Seeing the run requirement complete and the points still open made the next step clear.

We were close.

We just were not done yet.
