UKC agility titles in order, UACH points and title tracker

UKC agility has five standard titles: BA, IA, UACH, UACHX, and UGRACH. Tunnels, Hurdles, and 3 of a Kind each add their own. Below is every title in order with what it takes, a free helper that turns your Beginner B and Intermediate B scores into UACH points, and how the bigger titles add up. Add each run after the trial and the tracker keeps the count for you.

What are the UKC agility titles in order?

Standard agility runs are scored out of 200, and faults come off that 200. In Beginner and Intermediate, a qualifying score (a Q) needs every obstacle done and 170 or more. The same judge can give all of a dog's Qs and points, so there's no need to find different judges.

TitleWhat it takes
BA, Beginner Agility3 Qs in Beginner A or B, at 3 different trials
IA, Intermediate Agility3 Qs in Intermediate A or B, at 3 different trials
UACH, United Agility Champion100 points from Beginner B and Intermediate B, at least 40 from each, counted from the trial after BA and IA
UACHX, United Agility Champion Excellent5 Qs of 195 or more in Excellent, at 5 different trials, after the UACH
UGRACH, United Grand Agility Champion5 trials with 195 or more in each of Beginner B, Intermediate B, and Excellent, adding up to 590 or more, after the UACHX

BA and IA can come in either order, though UKC issues the BA certificate first. Excellent opens once a dog has its UACH.

In Beginner and Intermediate, the A section is for a dog that hasn't earned that class's title yet, shown by its owner or immediate family, and not by a trainer, instructor, or judge. The B section is open to everyone. These rules come from Chapters 5 and 11 of the UKC Agility Rulebook, and UKC's titles in its other sports are on our UKC titles list.

How do UACH points work?

UACH points come from a Beginner B or Intermediate B run with every obstacle done and a score of 195 or more. The score sets the points, and a fraction rounds down, so a 197.75 earns 7. Your dog needs 100 points in all, with at least 40 from each class, and the other 20 can come from either.

Points start at the next trial after your dog finishes both BA and IA. A Beginner B score from the trial where your dog got its third IA Q doesn't count, and the same goes the other way round. Now say a dog scores 198 in Beginner B and 196 in Intermediate B at every trial. That's 8 and 6 points, or 14 a trial, so the UACH comes at trial 8 with 64 and 48 points. A dog with 70 and 30 has 100 points but no UACH yet, because Intermediate B is still 10 short of its 40.

What are the UACHX and UGRACH requirements?

UACHX takes 5 Qs of 195 or more in Excellent, each at a different trial, counted from the trial after the UACH. UGRACH then asks for all three classes at one trial: at 5 different trials, your dog needs 195 or more in each of Beginner B, Intermediate B, and Excellent, and the three scores must add up to 590 or more. Three 195s make only 585, so the scores have to run higher. A day of 198, 196 and 196 adds up to 590 and counts.

UGRACH legs start at the next trial after the UACHX. Every 5 more of those days earns another title with a number: UGRACH2, UGRACH3 and so on.

UKC Tunnels, Hurdles, and 3 of a Kind titles

These are UKC's Dynamic Agility classes, offered when a club chooses to. They're scored pass or fail, and a dog can move between Novice and Elite. Tunnels and Hurdles titles are earned in order within each class, and each next title counts from the trial after the one before it. After a Supreme title, every 10 more passes adds a number: NTS2, ETS2, NHS2, and EHS2.

In 3 of a Kind, you choose how many points to go for, and 18 to 25 is a Novice run while 26 or more is Elite. N3K and E3K don't need to come in order, and every 3 more passes adds a number, such as N3K2. These rules are in Chapters 18 to 20 of the UKC Agility Rulebook.

Who can enter UKC agility, and how high do dogs jump?

A dog has to be at least 15 months old and either registered with UKC or hold a Performance Listing (PL) or Temporary Listing (TL) number. PL used to be called Limited Privilege (LP). Standard agility has four height divisions: Toy (up to 10 inches at the withers) jumps 4 inches, Division 1 (over 10, up to 14) jumps 8, Division 2 (over 14, up to 20) jumps 14, and Division 3 (over 20) jumps 20. Any dog can choose the Minimum Jump Height instead, which is 4 inches for Division 1, 8 for Division 2, and 14 for Division 3, and adds 5 seconds to its course time. These rules are in Chapters 1 and 6 of the UKC Agility Rulebook.

Our dog jump height chart has the heights next to every other organization's, and our UKC vs AKC post covers how the two compare. Our agility championship titles page sets UACH beside MACH, ATCH, and the rest.

Frequently asked questions

What does UACH stand for?+

United Agility Champion. A dog earns it with 100 points from Beginner B and Intermediate B, after finishing BA and IA.

Do Beginner A and Intermediate A runs earn UACH points?+

No. BA and IA can come from the A or B sections, but UACH points come only from Beginner B and Intermediate B.

Does my dog have to earn BA before IA?+

No. A dog can finish IA first, but UKC won’t issue the IA certificate until the dog has finished BA.

What were UAGI and UAGII?+

The old names for BA and IA. UKC’s Beginner and Intermediate classes were once called AGI and AGII, and Excellent was AGIII.

Does my dog need to be registered with UKC?+

No. A dog that isn’t registered with UKC can compete with a Performance Listing (PL) number, once called Limited Privilege, or a Temporary Listing (TL) number. Dogs must be at least 15 months old.

Is UKC agility the same as UKI agility?+

No. UKC is the United Kennel Club, and UKI is UK Agility International. They’re separate organizations with their own rules and titles.

UKC agility title tracker

That's a lot to keep in your head: two classes for the UACH, three on one day for the UGRACH, and two ladders each for Tunnels and Hurdles. Add each run after the trial, with its class and score where the title needs one. The tracker works out the UACH points from the score, keeps Beginner B and Intermediate B points on their own lines, and counts your UGRACH days. It's an independent tracker, so UKC's record stays the official one.
